Christianity became extremely important during the early stages of the Middle Ages. In fact, it was the only recognized religion in Europe at this time period. It completely dominated both peasant and noble lives, and therefore huge amounts of money went to the Church's budget. People working in the church, became very rich and influential because of the money and time that went into Christianity during the Middle Ages.
